Company Overview

A major holding company in Brazil, with interests in financial institutions, telecom industry, retail and entertainement, and offices all over the world, directly connected to several companies.


Business Situation

As one of the major holding companies in Brazil, with interests in Brazil and abroad, they faced a challenge: how to securely communicate with their branches without creating security breaches that could lead to information leakage to its competitors.

The client faced two major barriers for implementing security: as it is the decision center for many large corporations in Brazil, it is permanently connected to them through the internet and telephone lines; and, as it works in a very dynamic environment, their requirements change constantly.

Their own internal environment reflected the dynamism and independence of its associates: the controls were determined by each manager and their needs; few restrictions were imposed to the internet connection; they worked in different hours, from different places and needed complete access to all the services and documents from the company.

The network topology represented a challenge by itself: as new services were being added by third party companies, they were implemented without a security concern, and led the network vulnerable to external access. The access control was also a problem, as the users could access the company from their homes, traveling or though the several offices in different countries.


Solution

As the proposed solution should respect how the client work, ICTS performed a risk assessment and implemented immediate actions to correct some major problems found. During this risk assessment ICTS also studied possible solutions for the problem.

The client requirements were clear: implement a cost-benefit solution that would allow transparent connection to their foreign office; Do it as quickly as possible; Do not interfere with the current work.

After the successful project implementation, the client was able to perform his routine tasks much more effectively, showing improved speed and reliability in all his foreign operations, which reflected the peace of mind and tranquility that the solution brought to him.
